KAREN PORKKA
Welcome

Thanks for stopping by my site.  The music that you are listening to could be from various projects.  Most are from my new self-titled EP featuring 3 original compositions (Drop the Needle, No Regrets Rhumba and Serenading the Night) and one arrangment of Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind.  I also have posted another original composition Ash on my Belly that is on a compilation CD entitled UNSOUND 2 just released by the Borealis Electro Accoustic Music Society (BEAMS). Feel free to browse through the songs at the bottom of the page and of course the  other pages featuring  original artworks, photos, workshops, gigs, etc.

NEWS - The recording of my new CD is still coming....a few technical glitches and hopes that it will be out sometime March 2010. Will keep you posted for CD Release news.  Thanks to all the great musicians who played on it.  Thom Bennett, Thom Golub, Jamie Philp, Mo Lefever, Chris Andrew, Wayne Feschuk, Dan Churchill, Mony Matthews, Bob Tildesley, JC Jones and Dwayne Hyrnkiw. They all did a fantastic job.

    • I discovered a treasure in Edmonton, hidden away in coffee shops she belts out melodious tunes on her saxophone. She is the type of person you may pass by on the street without a second thought, yet once she sings she 'drops the needle on your heart' and leaves an indelible mark. Her lyrics offer comfort like the hug from a dear friend and her approachableness makes you feel like one. Thank you for sharing your talent with us, Karen! I look forward to your new CD and hearing you again at the Jazz Festival.
